Interoperability for Dynamic SIM Toolkit technology

SmartàLaCarte Universal Gateway provides interoperability so that mobile operators can use the same server platform regardless of the choice of Dynamic SIM Toolkit (DSTK) client technology.

DSTK services are a flexible and lightweight way of providing operator-controlled, menu-driven mobile services to the subscriber. The two major DSTK interpreter technologies are SmartTrust Wib and SIM Alliance Toolbox (S@T). Each client technology has traditionally been supported by its own server technology.

Support for Wib and S@T

The SmartàLaCarte Universal Gateway from G&D is a gateway server between the DSTK interpreter and the remote application servers. The Universal Gateway combines support for SmartTrust Wib and S@T so operators can successfully run S@T and Wib cards in parallel. This enables a soft migration path from S@T to Wib using only one server. Furthermore, it gives operators the option to stay with the S@T card technology and still use a universal server platform with maximum flexibility in SIM vendor selection.

Together with the Universal Gateway, we also provide the Universal Service Manager (USM), which is capable of managing services for SmartTrust Wib and S@T in parallel.
