Excellence in over-the-air SIM management

SmartAct provides the means for reliable Over-the-Air (OTA) management of SIM cards for mobile operators. It uses the Remote File Management standard, supporting vendor-specific OTA protocols from all major SIM suppliers and Remote Applet Management (RAM) according to the ETSI specifications for Java Card-based SIMs. SmartAct is designed to meet high performance demands for remote updates in batch mode.

The SIM is emerging as a vital element for the success of new business opportunities such as secure authentication, digital signatures, and commerce based on Near Field Communication (NFC). These entail an increasing need to manage applications, domains, keys, and files on the card in a reliable and secure way.

SmartAct is a holistic SIM management product covering multiple card types independent of vendor. It utilizes the message transport capabilities of SmartTrust DP to communicate with the SIM, and transparently handles differences that might exist in implementations of the Java Card run-time environment or Remote Applet Management commands.

With the Batch Order Manager (BOM), SmartAct meets high performance demands for remote updates of large SIM card series. The BOM performs OTA downloads to operator-defined subsets of subscribers.

The SmartAct OTA Provisioning Manager (OPM) is a business-logic layer for handling all SIM subscription lifecycle management. The OPM provides the operator with a single point of instantaneous subscription management for all SIM-OTA aspects, RFM, DSTK, and RAM. Network migrations from "SIM-less" network technologies like CDMA to GSM / 3GPP / 4G work smoothly with the OPM, since no SIM knowledge is needed for the business support system.
