Contactless payment cards differ from magnetic strip cards and contact-based smartcards in that they communicate with the payment terminal solely via radio waves. Modern contactless cards contain an integrated circuit chip (ICC) and an antenna in the card body. One of the largest providers of contactless payment products in the world, G&D delivers these cards and solutions as part of its Convego Air product range.
Convego Air offers providers of credit and debit cards a powerful platform for contactless payment equipped with applications from all leading credit card organizations. The card type, e.g. MasterCard PayPass or Visa payWave, is selected as part of the pre-personalization or initialization of the cards and other contactless products. In addition, the payWave qVSDC feature ensures worldwide interoperability and increased security.

With Convego Air, G&D qualified as a finalist in this hard-fought competition for the best ideas in the sector. Convego Air Mobile, the cell-phone sticker for contactless payment, was nominated in the Banking/Finance/Retail category.
